The creature, incidentally, serves little purpose in the film except as a special effect. We do learn late in the movie that the two-headed amphibians are from an assortment of mutated animals whose organs are used to create the game pods, but even that doesn't make much sense. They do what they want to and it's up for the audience to like it and understant it, which almost never happens or not. We can't all plug into the same socket. The art is to get other people to plug into your socket. What I found significant and striking, you also find significant and striking. That's what I want to do. That's where you start to be able to define the difference between hack work and any art form. It has to do with getting other people to plug into your socket.
